The Techniques Used in Microdermabrasion

microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is an advanced method of removing the dead skin cells from the outer layer of the skin to make room for new and healthy skin to develop.

The term “microdermabrasion” may conjure up thoughts of hospital stays and anaesthetic, there is no anaesthetic involved in this type of procedure and it is relatively painless. You can have this procedure done by a dermatologist or by an esthetician at a spa. It is used for removal of scars caused by acne or overexposure to the sun and in some cases it can be used in treating acne. It does require more than one treatment to achieve positive results in revitalized skin.

The techniques of microdermabrasion and other aesthetic procedures such as medical grade peelings, have improved in recent decades. Today, instead of using crystals to remove the dead skin, the practitioner uses a wand containing a rough surface to rub over the surface of the skin. In this procedure, the tiny particles of the wand remove scarred or discolored tissue on the epidermis and polish the skin. If the scarring is deep, the doctor or esthetician may have to use needles to break the scar tissue into small pieces.

Crystal microdermabrasion is still used, but is not as common as diamond microdermabrasion and home microdermabrasion systems. All used enhanced methods of exfoliating the skin. In the technique using crystals, tiny crystals are blasted onto the skin. The diamond technique does not use any crystals. In this procedure the practitioner uses a diamond tip head to make contact with the affected areas of the skin to abrade against it and **** off the dead skin cells.

Home kits for microdermabrasion are gaining in popularity as more and more people want to exfoliate the skin on their bodies in the privacy of their own homes and of course, this is a much cheaper alternative. While they are not as powerful as the other two systems and require longer periods of time before you see any results, they are an effective way to cure acne and remove scar tissue. The contents of the home kit can vary depending on the brand name of the system you purchase. Most of these systems do contain four basic components:

• Cream

• Hand piece

• Foam head

• Post treatment serum

When choosing a home kit so that you can perform microdermabrasion (http://www.vfhcinc.com/aesthetic.html) yourself, there are certain things you should look for. The cream that comes with the kit should contain ingredients that will soothe the skin and act as an anti-inflammatory agent at the same time. This will help your skin feel better and you won’t have any sensitivity to using the applicator. The best creams are those that contain shea butter or cucumber extract.

Not all of the home kits do contain a foam head. This is an important component to look for when choosing a system because the foam head helps to evenly distribute the cream to the area you want to exfoliate. One head will last for about 12 or 15 treatments and you can purchase replacements. You just have to make sure that you do wash it thoroughly after each use. The hand piece is a standard component in all kits, but there are differences among them. Some are simply made of plastic, while others contain batteries and vibrate so that they massage the skin while they exfoliate. You can also get hand pieces in which you can set the intensity to match your skin sensitivity. Since the microdermabrasion can leave your skin feeling dry, it is important that you use a serum, which is a moisturizer, following each home treatment to soothe the skin.

Microdermabrasion, The Lastest In Laser Skin Care

microdermabrasion
One of the treatments that is growing really popular is Microdermabrasion, a procedure that removes the topmost layer of the skin, getting rid of the dead skin cells on the surface and bringing back its healthy glow.

It also leaves a smoother surface and even stimulates the growth of new calls as well as the production of collagen and elastin, which both plays a role in the development of wrinkles.

This procedure is similar to some chemical peeling treatment except that it does not burn the skin. There is also less irritation reported as well as allergic reactions to the procedure. One can even apply make-up on the skin that is newly treated.

One of the many benefits of Microdermabrasion is that it has less treatment time. This means that you don’t have to spend so much time in the surgical room. Another pros is the fact that it has less recovery time compared to other techniques that basically do the same treatment.

It is also relatively painless that dermatologists and doctors do not even use anesthesia anymore. Because of this, it is also relatively cheaper compared to other laser skin treatments available.

Microdermabrasion can treat a lot of skin conditions such as age spots, acne, pigmentation marks, sun-damaged skin, fine wrinkles and even dull congested skin.

The kind of treatment as well as the duration will depend upon the skin type and the condition. Treatment results will of course vary depending on the condition of the skin before the treatment and of course the severity of the problem. But as mentioned before, with microdermabrasion, there will be shorter recovery time. Patients can already resume their work even hours after treatment.

Before the treatment

There are really no strict requirements before undergoing the procedure. But for safety purposes, patients are advised to not put any retinoid or retinal. There should also be no AHA usage for three days before and after the treatment.

Caring for the treated area

The first thing that should be done is to clean the area and keep it well moisturized. The doctor will also tell you the products that you can put on your skin. Another thing that you should do is to protect it from the sun at all times. Do this by using a sun block with moisturizer, at least SPF 15, to keep the skin moist and supple.

Microdermabrasion Salvages Teeenage Acne

microdermabrasion
Acne can be a major physical and psychological set back for teenagers. Although it is commonly said that it is part of growing up and puberty, it can be irritating for elders to say so, because they feel that do not really know what they are going through. But obviously this is not the case, as adults were all once teenagers before, and in fact have the majority have had acne as well.

When being a teenager, physical appearance is of utmost important. Acne is something that is blaringly obvious to see, and it is very difficult to cover it up without it being even more obvious. When going to school with such obvious ****** blemishes, it is likely that they come under verbal abuse from other children who have clear skin.

These could be children either younger than them who have not reached puberty yet, or even older who have passed this acne phase already. It is important to bear in mind that there are a few children who luckily do not get acne outbreaks. All of this verbal abuse can easily affect a teenager psychologically, and result in negative self confidence.

In fact, it is a vicious cycle, and it largely results in annoyance and irritation over the fact that over the counter medication does not remove acne immediately, or overnight. This results in self medicating with mythical cures, and it is more likely that they start picking at their acne, resulting in a greater chance of infected acne, and a more obvious acne scar when it eventually does resolve.

It is not true that greasy or sugary food or drink exacerbates acne, it can arise at any time- which makes it even more elusive and irritating to a conscious teenager. Like said earlier, trying to cover up the acne, may make the blemish more obvious. For example, adding layers and layers of makeup in a girl, may make the acne less obvious, but it will result in constant bombarding questioning from their schoolmates or friends with regard to the newly added makeup.

Severe acne can be treated with prescription drugs such as Ro-accutane, which can eliminate acne quite effectively. But side-effects such as liver damage after excessive use should be noted. An alternative new treatment called Microdermabrasion has been shown to eliminate acne in teenagers and all ages. It involves the painless spraying of fine crystals over the affected area to remove the upper-most layer of dead skin cells, so revealing the lower healthier skin. It is making headlines all over the beauty world, so it is something definitely to look out for.

In the end, we need to teach by example to young and old teenagers who are affected by acne. We should focus on inner beauty in ourselves and in others. It is important for them to realize that acne is only temporary in most cases, and there are effective treatments out there if is it gets serious.

Microdermabrasion Acne Treatment Explained

microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is growing in popularity as a way for treating acne. While it’s true that microdermabrasion isn’t only an acne treatment hundreds of thousands of people can attest to the effectiveness of microdermabrasion in helping get rid of acne.

Both professional microdermabrasion treatment and home systems can be used for treating acne. Home systems are cheaper and easy to use, although results with professional microdermabrasion are longer lasting and more significant.

While discussing microdermabrasion results for acne, it should be stated that acne has various causes. The effectiveness of microdermabrasion as an acne treatment is not the same for every acne patient. Some people see improvements after only one treatment session, while others require several treatments before seeing improvements.

Microdermabrasion treats acne through two effects. By exfoliating of the outermost layer of skin, blocked pores, which are a major cause of acne, become unclogged. By unblocking the skin pores by exfoliating, microdermabrasion allows bacteria from underneath the skin’s surface to be eliminated from the skin naturally.

Microdermabrasion treatment uses crystals which rub against the surface of the skin and perform the exfoliation. The most commonly used microdermabrasion crystals are made from aluminum oxide. This substance has anti-bacterial properties which mean when they are applied to the skin they kill the bacteria, which reduces the chances of acne returning.

Some patients see an immediate surge in acne after receiving treatment. While this may be alarming, it is in fact positive because the acne is being purged from the deeper layers of skin. The bacteria that had previously been trapped under the skin are released and the temporary acne breakout means the bacteria is coming out. After three or four days the acne begins to disappear leaving the skin much improved.

What Microdermabrasion Can Do For You

microdermabrasion
There are many benefits of using microdermabrasion to beautify your skin and complexion. Firstly, the treatment is not painful, unlike the technique from which it evolved from; dermabrasion. This method cleans the skin by using irritant, metallic agents, microdermabrasion uses a less invasive applicant to do the same job of clearing skin blemishes.

The second microdermabrasion benefit, is that it does not use irritant chemicals, knives, or high-tech lasers to do its job! Thus, is reduces the risks, anxiety and recovery time compared to other techniques which do exploit these invasive procedures.

If you did not already know, microdermabrasion uses special mixtures of creams that are combined with miniscule abrasive crystals that massage your skin to remove dead skin cells on the stratum corneum (upper-most layer of skin), revealing fresh, healthier skin cells beneath. While feeling like a massage, instead of a painful procedure such as dermabrasion, microdermabrasion removes pores, blackheads, acne, scarring, stretch marks and many more types of skin blemishes easily.

Not only can microdermabrasion benefits be experienced in a medical clinic, but at home too, with specially designed home systems and machines that are easy to use and specially designed even for those who have never used dermabrasion techniques before. Because of this, microdermbrasion is quick and you can choose whenever you want it; and because of the lack of side-effects, you do not have to worry about it affecting your work or daily schedule! For more information about these packages, ask your local clinic or health centre.

Another problem that many people complain of is whether microdermabrasion will cost too much. Surely all of these benefits must come with a disadvantage; that being a massive price tag, right? Wrong! Microdermabrasion is only a portion of the cost of undertaking cosmetic surgery or other skin treatments. Home systems can be yours for only around $30; and professional spas and health clinics offer top quality microdermabrasion treatments for around $100-150. Much, much less than the thousands you would have to dish out for other treatments.

In conclusion, microdermabrasion is cheap, efficient, painless and has very few side-effects compared to other skin treatments. This is a treatment I would highly recommend to the experienced, and novices in skin blemish removal; it is one of the most innovative and effective techniques available on the market! Further, if you are considering microdermabrasion as an option, there are over three different application methods you can use.
