Microdermabrasion Treatment for Acne Scars Removal

microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is increasingly being seen as a primary treatment for reducing and eliminating acne scars. Acne scarring is generally caused by more severe cases of acne. Nodules under the skin—painful lumps or puss-filled cysts—are generally what create the worst cases of acne scars. These nodules are more likely to scar than other types of acne.

Microdermabrasion is a simple noninvasive healing process which is mainly applied to aid mild surface acne scar. Microdermabrasion works by exfoliating the top layer of the damaged scarred skin thereby allowing the fresh skin layer to appear from below. This hand held system sprays a stream of aluminum oxide microcrystals onto the surface of the acne scar. This gently abrades the top layer of the skin leaving a brand new fresh layer underneath. This nonsurgical cosmetic method removes the very surface cells of the skin and therefore never causes any wound to the skin. This treatment process takes about twenty to thirty minutes and the mostly a gap of two weeks is preferred between two treatment sessions.

In microdermabrasion acne, fine aluminum crystals use to light the skin of affected area. It gives amazing results while applying it in each one or two weeks.

Growth in sebaceous gland of neck helps to filling with insects, bacteria during the formation of acne cyst. So, this treatment is good for preventing sebum and cells of the skin. Acne cyst may be erupted by releasing matter into the dermis, that can rapidly attack by blood cells in white color and fighting against the bacterial infection.

Although there is no firm evidence in support of any adverse impact caused by long-term aluminum oxide exposure; however, WHO has listed elemental aluminum as hazardous dust. Nevertheless experts believe that due to the hardness and sharp edges of the crystals they might cause corneal abrasion and respiratory problems in the patient as well as in the clinical staff.

Microdermabrasion results are effective; however, it’s important to understand the basic limitation of microdermabrasion treatment. Because, microdermabrasion only treats the outermost layer of skin it can have no effect on skin conditions that exist at deeper levels of skin. Microdermabrasion cannot produce great results against deeply pitted acne scars or old white stretch marks. However, there are some cases where microdermabrasion works in conjunction with other treatments to produce a synergistic effect with excellent results against even deep skin conditions.

Microdermabrasion?

microdermabrasion
sheepeshlysheepy asked:

I am considering having microdermabrasion to help get rid of acne scars on my face.
The thing I’m wondering is, my acne scars are more sunken in than raised, and discolored, and I’m wondering if there is a more effective procedure for that rather than microdermabrasion?
Thanks in advance!

Microdermabrasion Brings Back Your Youth

microdermabrasion
How many of us are really satisfied with our natural appearance? Not many I am afraid. Most of us brood over some issues or the other, like “oh how I wish I could have the lips like Angelina Jolie”! “Oh If only I had the face of Ket winslet!”, “Oh I am ready to give up everything to get that killer smile of Tom Cruise”! Well, you can fulfill your dreams and achieve a perfect face like your favorite Hollywood star. No I am not joking, it is really possible. In the face of these amazing advancements in the field of cosmetic surgery, it is no longer impossible to get an angelic face like Kate Winslet and the perfect body like Halle Berry.

So you seem to be serious about a complete makeover! To start from the scratch, you have to first focus on your skin. After all we all have heard of that old adage that “beauty is skin deep”, haven’t we? But skin loses its glow due to age, exposure to sun and other environmental elements. Then there are those spots, acne, scars, fine lines and what not? And the net result is an aged looking, dull, saggy skin. You want to get rid of all these and want to have a fresh and elastic skin, right? Why don’t you go for the procedure called Microdermabrasion? Let me inform you how this relatively new cosmetic procedure can come to your help in achieving the beauty you have always dreamt of.

So what a Microdermabrasion can do for you? Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical cosmetic skin-freshening technique that is capable of removing all scares, acne marks or fine lines from your face and renders it a rejuvenated look so that your face appears to be fresh and youthful.

Now you would like to know, how does this procedure work? Well, it is a quick, non-invasive procedure with virtually no side effects. It is performed so easily and so fast that it is fondly described as “lunchtime peel”. It is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon and the process involves the removal of only the very top layers of damaged skin. Then with the use of a device like a fine sandblaster, the surgeon sprays tiny crystals across the face, to exfoliate the dead, outer layer of skin. It is followed by the formation of new smoother and clearer skin. Although the faces and necks are the most common parts of the body for performing Microdermabrasion, you can get it done in any parts of your body, such as back of the hand, if you so wish.

You can rest assured Microdermabrasion is a safe and effective procedure which can be performed without any anesthetic requirements. And it is equally effective on all skin types and colors. Also the procedure does not require you to abstain from your normal working schedule.

Now coming to the cost factor, well it varies. The expense varies not only from states to states; it also varies according to the surgeon’s fees and the operating room facilities. The surgeon’s fees however vary from $200 to $250 in most the US states. But if you want to be beautiful like Hollywood stars, why bother about this little amount money? By paying off this much you get a new appearance altogether! Is not that much more valuable than a few dollars?

Skin Rejuvenation Options: Laser Resurfacing and Microdermabrasion

microdermabrasion
Want to rejuvenate your skin and banish blemishes but are afraid of going under the knife? Today there is a variety of new alternatives to invasive cosmetic surgery. With great results and no incisions necessary, ****** treatments like laser skin resurfacing and microdermabrasion are gaining popularity among men and women.

Laser Skin Resurfacing -

Laser resurfacing can treat a huge array of problems … removing unsightly scars, spider veins, wrinkles, discoloration, and acne.

The type of laser used will depend on the particular treatment sought, but the basic process uses beams of light to remove the outer dermal. A new, undamaged and blemish-free complexion will be revealed.

Sessions can last anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours, depending on the size of the treatment area and extent of the damage being treated. Most patients will have to make repeat visits for optimal results. It is most often used on the face, but also works well on other common problem areas of the body like the thighs.

Although highly effective and able to treat a wide variety of problems, the recovery period for laser skin resurfacing can be a nuisance. The treated areas will be dressed for a few days and once removed, the area will have to be protected with Vaseline until fully healed ten to twenty days later. Even after twenty days, skin might remain red for anywhere from two to six months afterwards, especially for fair individuals.

Fortunately, the pain level is minimal, usually equivalent to that of mild sunburn with some dryness and peeling. If you’re looking for a milder treatment with less downtime, you might consider microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion -

During a microdermabrasion treatment an instrument that resembles a wand is massaged over the area, using any one of a variety of materials including zinc oxide or organic particles. The topmost dermal layer is abraded off.

What results is the removal of fine lines, blemishes, mild sun damage, acne, and some discoloration. Afterwards you’re left with a new, undamaged layer of skin that can be penetrated more easily by topical moisturizers and creams. Initially the area may be irritable or red, but this usually disappears a few hours afterwards.

Microdermabrasion works best when used fairly regularly. By receiving repeated treatments, deeper dermal flaws might eventually be removed or diminished, and it will promote the process of new cell growth, giving skin a refreshed appearance.

There are also machines and creams that are available for home use. These are effective to some extent, but as you would expect, they are not nearly as powerful as the equipment available in a cosmetic surgeon’s office.

Most people aren’t born with a flawless complexion, and the effects of time and harmful elements can mark your skin with permanent blemishes. A good skincare regime is paramount in maintaining a healthy glow, but for those imperfections you can’t reach with topical lotions and creams, laser resurfacing or microdermabrasion are both winning options.

The Benefits of Microdermabrasion

microdermabrasion
It’s been called the “instant facelift”. Patients love it because it’s less costly and less invasive than traditional facelift procedures. Microdermabrasion can buff away your rough skin revealing a new youthful you.

This skin-refreshing technique has become a popular procedure for the following body parts:

· Face

· Chest

· Neck

· Arms

· Hands

Benefits of Microdermabrasion

Patients who already have good skin tone show the best results. Microdermabrasion has been found to increase the production of collagen and new skin cells promoting a longer youthful appearance. Here are some other benefits:

· Reduces fine lines, crow’s feet and age spots

· Cleans out clogged pores

· Good alternative for acne patients who are sensitive to Retin-A

· Effective on all skin colors and types

· Reveals a fresh, healthy glow of the skin

· Safe and effective requiring no surgery

· Heals quickly

The Microdermabrasion Procedure

A skilled technician or dermatologist takes 30 to 60 minutes completing the procedure in one session. A special tool shoots crystals of sodium chloride and aluminum oxide into the problem area, gently polishing the surface of the skin. A vacuum removes both the used crystals and damaged skin cells simultaneously. The procedure takes about three passes to raise and remove impurities from the skin.

MIcrodermabrasion affects only the upper skin layer or epidermis without permeating the next layer of skin – the dermis. After the treatment is completed, patients apply special lotions and creams to rehydrate the affected areas promoting younger, healthier skin.

Microdermabrasion Risks

As with any procedure, there are risks involved. It’s important to consult with an experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon before pursuing the procedure. Ask your friends who have had a microdermabrasion to recommend the best doctor for you. The possible risks of microdermabrasion include the following:

· Bruising especially around the lips

· Skin discoloration

· Blemishes

· Eyelids should never be treated with microdermabrasion

Poor Candidate for Microdermabrasion

Your doctor will advise you not to pursue microdermabrasion if you have the following conditions:

· Widespread acne

· Warts, open sores, fragile capillaries

· Rosacea, vascular lesions

· Eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis

· Lupus, erythematosus, or diabetes mellitus

Home Microdermabrasion And Its Amazing Effects

microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is used to treat several types of skin problems including acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, discoloration, and sun damage. The results are clearer, smoother, and younger-looking skin.

Microdermabrasion is often performed in a clinic or spa. It is highly effective in treating most skin conditions but can be quite costly and also carry some risk. Although microdermabrasion is one of the safest skin care treatments around, risks include perforation, infection, bleeding and discoloration. The good news is you can now treat your skin with home microdermabrasion kits for a fraction of the cost and risk. These kits are designed for use at home and so are easy to apply.

The main actions of microdermabrasion are to get rid of dead skin cells, cleanse the skin’s pores, and promote the rebuilding of new skin cells in the skin. Basically, microdermabrasion uses exfoliation to accomplish all these tasks.

Skin sheds occasionally, but in some cases, skin cell turnover is slow and dead skin cells accumulate. This makes your skin appear patchy and dull. Microdermabrasion acts to slough off dead skin cells to reveal the smoother and healthier skin underneath. Microdermabrasion also sloughs off raised scars and reduce their depth so that they are less visible.

When excess sebum and bacteria accumulate on the skin, your skin’s pores become clogged. As a result, they become irritated, red, itchy, and inflamed. When the affected areas erupt, scars form and your complexion turns dull, oily/dry, and full of bumps. What microdermabrasion does is unclog those pores so your skin can “breath” and return to its healthy state.

Finally, microdermabrasion stimulates healthy blood circulation. When you have healthy blood circulation, oxygen and nutrients are able to reach your skin effectively. This means your skin will be able to heal properly so that scars don’t form.

These are only the common actions of the typical microdermabrasion treatment. There are actually home microdermabrasion products like ZENMED containing special ingredients that treat and prevent certain skin conditions as well as maintain healthy, youthful skin. For example, the ZENMED Renewing Serum contains alpha-hydroxy acids, which are natural exfoliating agents deriving from fruits. These agents can remove the outer layer of the skin that has become dull and inflamed without the harshness. The serum is used alongside a skin care system to maintain healthy skin and prevent unwanted skin problems.

Another skin care solution is the Microdermabrasion Complex, which also gives that exfoliating effect, except this time it is used to specifically treat stubborn scars. It uses micro-spheres to smoothen out skin, and because these are very tiny beads, they do not irritate the skin. What these micro-spheres do is gradually remove jagged bumps on the skin, much like sanding wood for a smoother surface but with no harshness.

Find microdermabrasion products that can be applied to both the face and body, as body acne is common. There are a variety of skin care systems where you are able to use the product on both the face and body.

Has anyone ever had a microdermabrasion?

Ms.CuteCaDiva asked:

I have alot of dark spots on my face due to occasional bouts of acne. I’m able to make my skin look flawless with my makeup, but sometimes I don’t want to wear makeup and just show a healthy, glowing even skin tone. I’ve tried Clean and Clear, Olay Regenerist, Ambi Fade Cream, Dove Exfoliating products, ….etc. My next step is to go to the doctor and have microdermabrasion? Has anyone ever had that? If so, what does it feel like? Does it work? Were the results worth it? Or is there another process to get rid of the dark spots and achieve an even skin tone.
