Lax11 asked:

I have heard really good things about microdermabrasion, but I cannot afford to go to a spa to have it done. Has anyone tried a home microdermabrasion product that they have liked?

Microdermabrasion – just an expesive way of exfoliating? Can normal exfoliating wash gel give the same effect?

bej asked:

After reading up on microdermabrasion it sounds like all it does is remove dead skin cells – or at most the top layer of skin. Surely this is the same as any ****** scrub you can buy in the shops and use for daily cleansing? Or does it do something special that I haven’t heard about?

Anyone tried it?

How much does real medical microdermabrasion help to reduce enlarged pores?

plushpenguin asked:

What about microdermabrasion combined with an acid peel? How much of a change in my pores could I expect after one treatment? How much pain or “down time” is there after treatment? Have any of you gotten this done for enlarged pores and had good results? (remember, at home mdb is not the same thing) Thanks :)

Can I use scrubs to get microdermabrasion effect?

Can I use cleansing ****** scrubs (with beads in them) more often or more vigorously to get the effects of microdermabrasion? Can scrubs rub off enough layers of the skin to reduce age spots?
Hi, thank you for your answers so far. The thing is that I live in a country where they don’t sell any of the home micro-dermabrasion creams/kits. All I can get are regular scrub face washes (from supermarket) — so please respond keeping this in mind. Sorry I didn’t mention this at the beginning!

Microdermabrasion Acne Treatment

microdermabrasion
This treatment is a technique of smoothing the skin and unclogging skin pores. Although you may be surprised, microdermabrasion acne treatment can be as effective as surgical and laser treatments for acne.

The procedure is relatively new, but its results are more than promising. The microdermabrasion acne machine is used first to clean the skin and peel out the dead cells’ layer. In doing that it clears out the blocked pores. The technique is similar to rather gently vacuuming your skin as opposed to the invasive action of surgery. The second phase of the process is spraying the skin with an aluminium oxide. This spray eliminates the outer layer of dead skin cells.

So in summary, microdermabrasion acne treatment effectively works in two ways. Firstly, existing acne is treated by the unclogging of the pore and secondly, the removal of the dead skin cell layer significantly reduces the chances of the pores being clogged. This in turn decreases the formation of those annoying pimples.

As well as having the advantage of treating your acne, you will notice that your skin complexion (smoothness) will be greatly increased because this procedure removes the irregularities present on the skin surface.

Please remember, that microdermabrasion acne treatment is not a definitive cure for acne but rather acts to decrease the risk factors that predispose to the formation of acne.

On average 6 treatments spaced 1-2 weeks apart are required to achieve the best results, although, one session of microdermabrasion can provide beneficial results, these results are not permanent and you will have to repeat the procedure every 4-6 months as part of maintenance treatment.

Precautions you should take:

The risks associated with microdermabrasion acne treatment are not very high due to the fact that, unlike surgery, it does not require any form of anaesthesia.

Mircodermabrasion may cause short or long-term pigment problems. Your skin tone may be increased temporarily or decreased for a longer period. It is safe to carry out procedures in Roaccutane patients but not until 6 – 9 months after they have finished treatment.

Also, if you have had any cold-sores, it would be advised that these are treated and cleared first before you undergo microdermabrasion.

Atlanta Microdermabrasion – Everything You Ever Wanted For Your Skin

microdermabrasion
In Atlanta, microdermabrasion is a very popular procedure that both men and women use to keep their skin looking young and fresh. This is why there are several skin treatment centers in the city that offer their own take on the popular Atlanta microdermabrasion treatments.

Atlanta microdermabrasion is used mainly to eliminate or at least minimize the visible signs of skin aging such as age spots, lines, and wrinkles. Atlanta microdermabrasion is also effective as an acne prevention and treatment procedure, as well as in dispelling acne-caused scars.

Among the numerous treatment centers that specialize in Atlanta microdermabrasion is the Golden Clinic, a skin care facility founded by the world-renowned cosmetic surgeon Dr. Robert M. Golden.

Dr. Golden has been practicing cosmetic surgery in Atlanta for more than 15 years and is an active member of both the American Society for Liposuction Surgery and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

With his considerable experience in the field of skin care, Dr. Golden is more than qualified to perform Atlanta microdermabrasion on his clients. In fact, the Golden Clinic boasts of having some of the best skin experts in the area.

Besides the Atlanta microdermabrasion treatments, the Golden Clinic also offers several other dermatologic procedures such as skin surgery and skin cancer treatment. However, the Atlanta microdermabrasion treatment is probably the most popular procedure that the clinic offers.

Atlanta microdermabrasion actually takes a very short time, which is why so many people just love it. You can go in for your appointment and come out a few hours later with much younger-looking and more radiant skin.

After you undergo Atlanta microdermabrasion treatments in the Golden Clinic, they will apply a special moisturizer to revitalize your skin, which will all but eliminate the time you need for recovery.

Right after your Atlanta microdermabrasion treatment, you will notice several positive changes on your skin. Your lines and wrinkles will not be as defined anymore, and your age spots will have faded considerably. Do not expect to see a complete transformation, though. It may take a few sessions of Atlanta microdermabrasion to achieve that perfectly blemish-free and wrinkle-free skin that you really want.

The skin experts will also warn you that immediately after the Atlanta microdermabrasion treatments, your skin will be very vulnerable to elements such as the sun’s rays. Therefore, you will be advised to apply a mild sunscreen with an SPF of not lower than 15, if you are planning to go outdoors. For more info see http://www.microdermabrasionhelp.com/Microdermabrasion_Cost on home microdermabrasion kits.

If you wish to visit the Golden Clinic for an Atlanta microdermabrasion treatment, it is located in Alpharetta, Georgia, which is actually a suburb of Atlanta. We assure you that if you do decide to have your Atlanta microdermabrasion treatment in the Golden Clinic, you will be completely satisfied with the results.

Diamond Microdermabrasion Treatments Can Turn Back The Clock

microdermabrasion
Out of all the skin treatments on the market today, microdermabrasion is one of the most effective. Diamond microdermabrasion in particular is wonderfully effective on many kinds of skin problems. It’s also relatively quick and won’t hurt a bit – really!

If you’re looking for one of the best ways to exfoliate your skin, then microdermabrasion could be right for you. This process will remove all the dead skin cells that cloud your complexion. When these dead skill cells are not removed they can cause many different types of issues with your skin. The micro dermabrasion process gets rid of dead skin cells quicker and helps new skin cells to flourish. Your skin will feel softer and healthier after using this procedure.

Usually offered by a professional, microdermabrasion treatments will help your skin to be more wrinkle free and get rid of scars, age spots and any damage you’ve gotten from too much sun exposure. Acne can be effectively treated with microdermabrasion because it works to get rid of all the dead skin cells that are clogging your pores. When you remove these excess cells the skin is rejuvenated. This keeps acne at bay and reveals a clean and clear complexion.

Although there is a similar procedure known as crystal microdermabrasion, this is not as desirable as microdermabrasion with diamonds. Crystals can have some bad side effects compared to the diamond process. The crystal process works in a different way from the diamond process and can leave dust particles on your skin. These particles can be inhaled and result in some unhealthy consequences.

Certain areas of the body must be avoided with crystal microdermabrasion, compared to diamond microdermabrasion. For instance, the eye and mouth areas cannot be treated with this product. These are also the areas that usually need treatment the most. Therefore, if you want a more complete anti aging skin treatment program then diamonds are the way to go.

Diamond microdermabrasion can be used around the eye and mouth area without any problems. There are no particles created when using the diamond method of microdermabrasion, so it’s safe for use in and around these delicate areas. A diamond tip device can provide the most thorough treatment when compared to the crystal alternatives.

No matter where you live, there should be a city near you where you can receive microdermabrasion treatments. You can get this kind of treatment in spas, salons and other places as well. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll likely need more than one session in order to get the best outcome. You may also need to consider your sessions as an investment in yourself. Most people find repeat treatments are necessary to see lasting results.

If you can’t afford pricey clinic or salon sessions, you can try doing it yourself at home. You can buy an at home microdermabrasion kit to help you get great results. You can even buy your own home diamond microdermabrasion machine that gives you good results at a decent price. No matter which option you go with – your skin will thank you for it.

Microdermabrasion Frequently Asked Questions

microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a safe and effective method for approving the appearance of skin and encouraging natural skin renewal. Different methods of microdermabrasion include mechanical abrasion from jets of zinc oxide or aluminum oxide crystals, fine organic particles, or a roughened surface. Particles are removed through the wand or hand-piece through which the abrasive particles are sprayed on the surface of the skin.

Microdermabrasion is a highly effective treatment designed to:

* smooth out the skin’s texture

* brighten dull or sallow skin

* decongest stressed or blemished skin

* increase cell turnover and regeneration

* unclog and refine pores

* minimise fine lines and wrinkles by improving cellular renewal

What’s involved?

After your skin is thoroughly cleansed, a diamond abrasive hand piece combined with suction is glided over the skin in a criss-cross motion, successfully removing dead skin cells and impurities.

When the build-up has been removed from the skin, a soothing vitamin mask is then applied to the skin, delivering intense moisture and

nutrients to fresh new skin cells.

What can I expect after the treatment?

* slight pinkness of the skin

* prickly/itchy feel to the skin

* a mild flaking or peeling effect

* a slight amount of pimple breakout may be experienced

How often can I have MicroDermabrasion?

For best results, MicroDermabrasion is ideal to have weekly, or for sensitive skins, fortnightly. Generally, a course of 6 treatments are highly recommended

Aftercare for the treatment

* Avoid sun exposure (always apply a SPF 30 plus)

* Avoid exfoliation 3 days prior and 7 days after treatment

* Avoid solariums/ tanning beds

* Avoid products that are too stimulating on the skin eg: Glycolic/AHA based.
